Setup
I am the happy owner of a Mapex Pro M, actually because I can say that "they don't make anymore like these": in fact, the Pro M has been put out of production some years ago, replaced (I think) by the Meridian Maple. However, for those curious, the drums are
Bass drum | 22x18 |
Tom tom | 10x8 |
Tom tom | 12x9 |
Tom tom | 14x11 |
Tom tom | 16x13 |
Snare drum | 14x5,5 |
while I chose some K Zildjian series cymbals, like
- 17" K Dark Crash,
- 18" K Dark Crash,
- 20" K Jazz Ride,
- 14" K Hihat pair.
Speaking of drum heads, Remo until proven otherwise:
- Bass drum: batter Clear Powerstroke 4, resonant black stock by Mapex,
- Tom toms: batters Coated Pinstripe, resonants Clear Ambassador,
- Snare drum: batter Coated Controlled Sound Black Dot, resonant Clear Diplomat.
The last time I had to change the drum heads was in August, which is not a good time to find the stores supplied, so I wanted to take the Black Suede Emperor for the tom toms, and instead I had to reach a compromise. Actually, the Pinstripes are not bad at all, but I will certainly better organize the next round.
